(Vienna/Bucharest) In the future, data vendors of Wiener Börse will be able to receive Bucharest Stock Exchange data via their existing connections. Yesterday evening, an agreement was signed to this effect by the management board members of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, Stere Farmache, and of Wiener Börse, Michael Buhl. The offer, which is addressed mainly to international vendors, will make access to the data of the two exchanges faster and easier.
The joint dissemination of data is the fourth cooperation project since the signing of the memorandum of understanding in December 2004: Since March 2005, Wiener Börse has been calculating and publishing the joint index, ROTX (Romanian Traded Index). In the autumn of this year, index cooperation was enlarged to include the marketing and distribution of the leading index of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, BET, as well as by two further indices (BET-FI and BET-C). In the summer, Wiener Börse acted as consultant to the Bucharest Stock Exchange for the establishment of a futures market.
"As of January 1, 2007, the Bucharest Stock Exchange will become one of the players on the common financial European market and this new qualitative position will open, for the Romanian capital market, new areas in the international investing environment. By Romania's accession to the EU, the Bucharest Stock Exchange will face new opportunities and challenges and, in this context, the Agreement signed today with Wiener Börse is getting, in a more familiar manner, the Romanian capital market closer to the European investors", said Stere Farmache.
“Our cooperation with the Bucharest Stock Exchange shows how two exchanges – without takeovers or equity investments – can work together successfully to achieve growth,” said Michael Buhl. The goal of the cooperation with the Bucharest Stock Exchange is to set up long-term projects in diverse areas. Cross shareholdings by the two exchanges are not necessary in the opinion of the two exchanges from today’s perspective.
The Bucharest Stock Exchange is the second exchange whose data are disseminated via Wiener Börse. As early as in November 2005, Wiener Börse vendors have been receiving data from the Budapest Stock Exchange via the datafeed of Wiener Börse.
