(Vienna/Ljubljana) The Vienna Stock Exchange is today delighted to announce that it has been successful in its bid for an 81.01% share in the Ljubljana Stock Exchange, thereby reinforcing its goal of strengthening Central and Eastern Europe’s capital market. “As the new majority shareholder, we will be working actively to support the progress of our neighbouring stock market and we look forward to working closely with all employees of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange as well as all Slovenian market participants,” said Heinrich Schaller, CEO of the Vienna Stock Exchange. The Vienna Stock Exchange considers itself a long-term investor and together we will focus mainly on the areas of products, data vending and indices," added Schaller.
By winning the bid for the Ljubljana Stock Exchange, the Vienna Stock Exchange has become co-owner of two East European Stock Exchanges: In the coming weeks, the Vienna Stock Exchange will be enlarging its stake in the Budapest Stock Exchange - from 12.5% to 37.7, -, subject to regulatory approval–% - taking the total share of the Austrian consortium to 68.8%. Additionally, the Vienna Stock Exchange works together closely with the stock exchanges of Bucharest, Sarajevo and Banja Luka.
