First company from down under starts trading on the Vienna Stock Exchange

(Vienna) The Australian company, European Lithium Limited, which operates a lithium mine in Wolfsberg, was added to trading on the Third Market of the Vienna Stock Exchange today. The stocks are traded during the single intra-day auction. Historically, the largest buyers of lithium are from the glass-making and ceramics industry according to the company. However, the increasing use of lithium-ion technology in consumer electronics is pushing up overall demand.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to include domestic small and medium-sized companies in trading on the Third Market. The Third Market of the Vienna Stock Exchange was designed as an entry segment for smaller Austrian issuers, but the legal framework does not permit Austrian issuers to join this market. "The door to the Vienna Stock Exchange should not be closed to smaller domestic companies. Opening up the SME segment is urgently needed," demands CEO Christoph Boschan. "In this context, we are dependent on support from politics."
