(Vienna) Just in time for the start of school, Vienna Stock Exchange announces an expansion of the already extensive financial education offering. This includes, among other things, an initiative on the topic of Green Financial Literacy with newly designed and digital teaching materials, which are available for use with immediate effect. In addition, seven new courses and seminars of the Vienna Stock Exchange Academy with an increased online offering complete the program for the coming year. Furthermore, Wiener Börse supports the "National Financial Education Strategy", initiated by the Federal Ministry of Finance and Finance Minister Gernot Blümel, with expertise and materials. The next steps for this will be presented in September.
"Investing is the active form of co-determination and participation in a modern social market economy. However, knowledge in this area is essential. With this knowledge, everyone can be empowered to confidently turn to the various forms of investment and take charge of their own finances. The aim of our broad offering is to provide investors with a good risk-reward balance," says Christoph Boschan, CEO of Wiener Börse AG.
Sustainable stock market knowledge for students
Under the name "börse4me", teaching material (in German) is made available free of charge. The modular structure enables teachers to use the content in their lessons according to the respective school type. Since spring 2021, all content has also been available as interactive e-books on the learning platform lms.at. This is in response to the increased demand for digital instructional materials due to homeschooling and distance learning. In five learning modules so far, the basics of the capital market as well as the "1x1 of the stock exchange" can be learned. In cooperation with the Green Financial Literacy initiative of the Federal Ministry of Climate Action (BMK), the range of teaching materials is now being supplemented by a sixth module entitled "Future-oriented and responsible investment". In the process, competencies on the sustainability approach ESG (Environment – Social – Governance) as well as criteria for the selection of sustainable investment products and the making of investment decisions are imparted.
"Sustainable management and the handling of money are central topics in the classroom in order to prepare young people well for their future. With the new module, we are bringing these two areas together and are helping to strengthen sustainability in the investment area as well," says Johannes Lindner from the Center for Entrepreneurship Education and Value-Based Business Didactics at KPH Vienna/Krems. “This way, we show young people that they can contribute to driving change with their decisions and help shape the future positively within the scope of their possibilities," continues Gerald Fröhlich from IFTE.at. The two education experts were involved in the design of the module.
