DO&CO joins the ATX for the first time

  • ATX: DO & CO AG replaces AT&S Austria Technologie & Systemtechnik AG
  • ATX five: BUWOG AG takes the place of Wienerberger AG
  • ATX Global Players: KTM Industries AG joins, Zumtobel Group AG leaves

(Vienna) Today’s review of the composition and calculation parameters of Austrian stock indices – in accordance with the Index Rules – resulted in the adjustments set out below. All changes take effect on Monday, 19 September 2016.

The Viennese catering firm, DO & CO AG, joins the leading Austrian index, ATX, for the first time and replaces the semi-conductor manufacturer AT&S Austria Technologie & Systemtechnik AG. DO & CO AG has been listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange since it went public in June 1998 and is traded on the exchange’s top segment, the prime market.

In the ATX five index, which tracks the five largest ATX companies, BUWOG AG will replace Wienerberger AG. The ATX five will contain the stocks of the following companies in the future: Andritz AG, BUWOG AG, Erste Group Bank AG, OMV AG und voestalpine AG.

KTM Industries AG (formerly CROSS Industries AG) has been newly added to the ATX Global Players index and Zumtobel AG removed. To be included in the ATX Global Players index, a company must be listed on the prime market and generate at least 20% of sales revenues outside of Europe.

Moreover, changes have been made to the free float factors, which are critical for the weighting of the stocks in the indices. The free float factor of BUWOG rises from 0.8 to 1 and that of Erste Group Bank AG from 0.7 to 0.8.  The free float factor indicates how many stocks of a company are publicly held.

The calculation of the ATX is based on a purely quantitative method which is defined in detail in the “Rules for the Austrian Indices of the Vienna Stock Exchange”. According to these Rules, the inclusion or exclusion of stocks from the ATX is reviewed half-yearly (March and September). The decision to include a stock in an index is reached on the basis of the daily average trading volume and free float capitalization of the company. The review of the calculation parameters (number of shares, free float factors and representation factors) is done on a quarterly basis (March, June, September, December). The ATX watchlist is published once a month. The index committee, which adopts the rules for the indices, includes representatives of institutional investors, trading members, representatives of financial institutions that issue products based on the index, academic advisors and the Vienna Stock Exchange.
