(Vienna) Today, the ATX Committee decided on a new calculation basis for weighting the individual stocks in the Austrian indices of the Vienna Stock Exchange. In the future, the exact number of voting rights will be used for calculating the free float factors for the Austrian indices. Up to now, the free float factor was decided on the basis of the so-called “reporting threshold” pursuant to § 91 para. 1 Stock Exchange Act. This decision enables a more precise breakdown of the companies’ weightings included in the Austrian indices. The resulting changes in the free float factors will be effective as of 22 December 2014.
The free float factor is relevant for the composition of the ATX. The decision on new additions to the index is based on the daily average trading volume and the free float capitalization of companies. The free float factor represents the portion of shares of a company that are in the hands of a multitude of public investors. The higher the free float factor, the heavier the weighting of a company in the index.
The change to the calculation basis results in the following adjustments to the companies’ free float factors in the ATX and ATX five (in bold letters). The adjustments for all Prime Market companies can be looked up .
